Abstract: Adds disabled veteran identification cards to the proof of disability requirements for air
carrier airports to provide free parking to disabled veterans.
Present law provides free parking for a disabled veteran, his conveyance, and his passengers at any
air carrier airport if the veteran provides proof of his disability in the form of a military honor license
plate or a completed certificate from the La. Dept. of Veterans Affairs certifying that the disabled
veteran has a service-connected disability of 50% or more, as determined by the U.S. Dept. of
Veterans Affairs.
Present law specifies that free parking at air carrier airports is authorized for any disabled veteran,
his conveyance, and his passengers at any air carrier airport.
Present law specifies that if the disabled veteran provides proof of his service-connected disability
in the form of a military honor license plate or a completed certificate from the La. Dept. of Veterans
Affairs certifying that the disabled veteran has a service-connected disability, as determined by the
U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, he may avail himself of free airport parking.
Proposed law adds a disabled veteran identification card issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs as an acceptable form of proof of disability for purposes of present law.
Present law specifies that a disabled veteran authorized to park for free at an airport pursuant to
present law is prohibited from parking for a period exceeding 10 days. Further specifies an air
carrier airport may charge a disabled veteran the customary parking fee for each day he is parked at
the airport that exceeds 10 days.
Proposed law modifies present law by removing the 10 day parking limitation and specifying that
a disabled veteran is authorized to park free at an airport upon proof of an airline ticket showing the
departure and return date.

1. Make technical changes. 2. Specify that a disabled veteran is authorized to park free at an airport upon proof of an
airline ticket showing the departure and return date.
3. Remove a provision that limited a disabled veteran's ability to park to a maximum of ten
days.
4. Remove the ability of an air carrier airport to charge a disabled veteran the customary
parking fee for each day beyond the ten days.
