ENROLLED ACT No. 601 2024 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 146 BY REPRESENTATIVE FARNUM 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 38:2322(A), relative to board appointments for the Sabine River 3 Authority; to provide relative to qualifications for board members residing in 4 Calcasieu Parish; and to provide for related matters. 5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published 6 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of 7 Louisiana. 8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 9 Section 1. R.S. 38:2322(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 10 ยง2322. Board of commissioners 11 A.(1) The governing authority of the Sabine River Authority shall be vested 12 in a board of commissioners thereof, which is hereby provided for in this Section. 13 The board shall be composed of thirteen members, who shall be appointed by the 14 governor, one of whom shall serve as chairman. Of the thirteen members of the 15 board to be appointed by the governor, four members shall be residents of Sabine 16 Parish, two members shall be residents of Calcasieu Parish, two members shall be 17 residents of Vernon Parish, two members shall be residents of DeSoto Parish, two 18 members shall be residents of Beauregard Parish, and one member shall be a resident 19 of Cameron Parish. 20 (2) Preference shall be given to a domiciled resident of the Sabine River 21 Watershed area, as defined by the established parish drainage maps, for one of the 22 two members from Calcasieu Parish.
