HLS 24RS-373 ORIGINAL 2024 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 151 BY REPRESENTATIVE ORGERON LEVEES/BDS & DISTRICTS: Provides for the membership of the board of commissioners of the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District 1 AN ACT 2To amend and reenact R.S. 38:291(T)(2)(a)(ii), relative to the membership of the board of 3 commissioners of the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District; 4 to increase the number of commissioners appointed by the governor; to increase the 5 number of nominations submitted by the president of Lafourche Parish; and to 6 provide for related matters. 7 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published 8 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of 9 Louisiana. 10Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 11 Section 1. Present law establishes the North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District and provides for the appointment of a board of commissioners based on nominations made by certain state legislators and the governing authorities of Lafourche Parish, Thibodaux, and Lockport. Proposed law retains present law. Present law provides for the appointment of one commissioner from a list of three nominees submitted by the governing authority of Lafourche Parish. Proposed law increases the number of nominees that must be submitted by the Lafourche Parish government from three to five and increases the governor's appointments from Lafourche Parish nominees from one to two commissioners.
