Abstract: Increases the penalties for public bribery.
Present law provides for the crime of public bribery.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that whoever commits the crime of public bribery shall be fined not more than
$1,000, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both.
Proposed law changes the penalty to provide for a maximum fine of $2,000.
Proposed law further changes the penalty of imprisonment, to be served with or without hard labor,
from a maximum of five years to 10 years.
