Abstract: Extends the Sledge Jeansonne La. Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.
Present law provides for the Sledge Jeansonne La. Insurance Fraud Prevention Act. Generally
authorizes the attorney general to pursue a civil action against anyone who commits fraud or any
other illegal practice to obtain insurance payments.
Present law terminates the Sledge Jeansonne La. Insurance Fraud Prevention Act on July 1, 2024.
Proposed law extends the Act's termination date to July 1, 2028. Otherwise retains present law.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
