SSHB421 4465 4969 HOUSE SUMMARY OF SENATE AMENDMENTS HB 421 2024 Regular Session Phelps HEALTH CARE/RECORDS: Requires healthcare providers to document a diagnosis of sickle cell disease on immunization records in certain circumstances Synopsis of Senate Amendments 1.Removes requirement to include an individual's sickle cell disease diagnosis on the individual's immunization record. 2.Adds that a parent or guardian of a student with sickle cell disease may submit a sickle cell disease management and treatment plan to the student's school. 3.Adds that the student's sickle cell disease management and treatment plan shall include health care accommodations the student may require at school or while participating in a school activity. 4.Adds that a student's parent or guardian and the student's treating physician are required to sign the sickle cell disease management and treatment plan. Digest of Bill as Finally Passed by Senate Proposed law authorizes a parent or guardian of a student with sickle cell disease to submit a sickle cell management and treatment plan to the student's school. Proposed law requires a student's management and treatment plan be developed by the student's parent or guardian and the student's treating physician. Proposed law states that a student's sickle cell disease management and treatment plan shall include health care accommodations the student may require at school or while participating in a school activity and the signatures of the student's parent or guardian and the student's treating physician.
