MTR VEHICLE/LICEN PLATES: Creates the "LSU Baseball National Champions"
specialty license plate
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 47:463.229, relative to motor vehicle prestige license plates; to establish the
3 "Louisiana State University Baseball National Champions" speciality license plate;
4 to provide for the creation, issuance, design, implementation, fees, distribution, and
5 rule promulgation applicable to such license plate; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 47:463.229 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง463.229. Special prestige license plates; Louisiana State University Baseball
9 National Champions
10 A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall
11 establish a special prestige motor vehicle license plate to be known as the "Louisiana
12 State University Baseball National Champions" plate, provided there is a minimum
13 of one thousand applicants for such plate. The plate shall be restricted to use on
14 passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans.
15 B. The secretary shall work in conjunction with the Louisiana State
16 University Board of Supervisors to select the color and design of the plate, provided
17 it is in compliance with R.S. 47:463(A)(3). The design shall include the words "LSU
18 Baseball National Champions".
19 C. The special prestige license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any
20 citizen of Louisiana in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.

1 D. The department shall collect an annual royalty fee of twenty-five dollars
2 that shall be disbursed in accordance with Subsection E of this Section. This fee
3 shall be in addition to the standard motor vehicle license tax imposed by Article VII,
4 Section 5 of the Constitution of Louisiana and a handling fee of three dollars and
5 fifty cents for each plate to be retained by the department to offset a portion of
6 administrative costs.
7 E. The department shall retain one dollar from each annual fee to offset
8 administrative costs. The remainder of the fee shall be forwarded to Louisiana State
9 University as a charitable donation to Louisiana State University by the applicant.
10 F. The secretary shall promulgate and adopt rules and regulations as are
11 necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.
12 Section 2. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor
13vehicles, is hereby directed to create the special prestige license plate when the applicable
14statutory provisions are met and its systems is updated to accommodate the creation of the
15new plates.

Baseball National Champions" license plate, provided that there is a minimum of 1,000
applicants for such plates.
Proposed law specifies that the plate is restricted to use on passenger car, pickup trucks,
recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans.
Proposed law requires the secretary work in conjunction with La. State University Bd. of
Supervisors to select the color and design of the plate. Requires the design include the
words "LSU Baseball National Champions".
Proposed law specifies that the plate will be issued, upon application, to any citizen of the
state in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.
