HB 433 Original 2024 Regular Session Zeringue
Abstract: Requires reporting of revenues and expenditures for every court.
Proposed law provides that no later than Oct. 1st of each calendar year, the judicial administrator of
the supreme court shall develop or revise a uniform budget document designed to show itemized
revenues and expenditures for the supreme court, district courts, courts of appeal, city courts,
municipal courts, and traffic courts.
Proposed law provides for submission of the uniform budget document to the chief justice of the
supreme court and for distribution of the document to the chief judge of each district court, courts
of appeal, city court, municipal court, and traffic court that receives monies pursuant to an
appropriation as provided by present law (R.S. 13:83).
Proposed law provides that each such court shall submit its completed form to the supreme court,
and the supreme court shall complete its form, no later than Dec. 31st of that same calendar year.
Proposed law provides that the supreme court shall submit a publicly available report containing all
completed forms to the legislature by the deadline set forth in present law (R.S. 39:51(D)) and cause
the completed forms to be published on its website.
