Abstract: Increases the driver's license fee as an additional source of revenue to fund the litter
program.
Present law specifies that every applicant for a Class "D" driver's license, or renewal of a Class "D"
driver's license, except those bona fide residents of New Orleans, must pay for such basic license fee
of $42.75. Further specifies that $11.15 must be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System
Fund. The remaining $1.50 of the fee will be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement
account.
Proposed law increases the basic license fee in present law from $42.75 to $48.75 and changes the
fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50.
