Present law specifies that every applicant for a Class "D" driver's license, or renewal of a Class "D" driver's license, except those bona fide residents of New Orleans, must pay for such basic license fee of $42.75. Requires that $11.15 be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Specifies that the remaining $1.50 of the fee will be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law increases the basic license fee in present law from $42.75 to $48.75 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law requires the fee for Class "D" driver's licenses, or renewal of a Class "D" driver's license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans be $54, $15 of which must be payable by the department to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New Orleans. Further requires $1.84 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Additionally $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law increases the fee for Class "D" driver's licenses renewal issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans from $54 to $60 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law specifies that every applicant for a Class "E" driver's license, or for a renewal of a Class "E" driver's license, except those bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans, must pay a basic license fee of $20.25, which is the cost of the basic license. Requires $5.63 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Additionally $1.50 of the fee be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law increases the basic license fee for a Class "E" driver's license, or for a renewal of a Class "E" driver's license from $20.25 to $26.25 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law specifies that the fee for a Class "E" driver's license, or renewal of a Class "E" driver's license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans must be $20.25, $3.75 of which must be paid by the department to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New Orleans. Present law requires that every applicant for a Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, or for a renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, except for those bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans, to pay the basic license fee of $61.50. Further requires $16.25 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Additionally $1.50 of the fee is to be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law increases the commercial driver's license, or a renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, from $61 to $66 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law specifies that the fee for a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, or for the renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, issued to bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans must be $76.50, $15 of which fee must be paid by the department to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New Orleans. Further specifies $15 of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Additionally $1.50 of the fee must be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law increases the commercial driver's license, or a renewal of a basic Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver's license, from $76.50 to $82.50 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law specifies that every applicant 70 years of age or older for a Class "E" driver's license, or for the renewal of a Class "E" driver's license, except those bona fide residents of the city of New Orleans, must pay the basic license fee of six dollars and seventy- five cents, which is the cost of the license. Further specifies the license will expire on the anniversary of the birthday of the applicant which is nearest to a date of six years subsequent to the issuing of the license, unless revoked, canceled, or suspended. Proposed law increases the amount for every applicant 70 years of age or older for a Class "E" driver's license, or for the renewal of a Class "E" driver's license, from $6.75 to $12.75 and changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Present law specifies that 75¢ of the fee must be paid to the office of state police. Further specifies that $2.75 of the fee must be paid to the La. State Police Retirement System Fund. Additionally, $1.50 of the fee must be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Proposed law increases the fee that every applicant 70 years of age or older for a Class "D" driver's license, or for the renewal of a Class "D" driver's license must pay from $27.75 to $33.75. Present law specifies that $7.50 of the fee must be payable by the department to the board of trustees of the police pension fund of the city of New Orleans. Requires 92¢ of the fee be paid to the La. State Police Pension and Retirement Fund. Further specifies that $1.50 of the fee must be forwarded by the department to the litter abatement account. Proposed law changes the fee to be forwarded to the litter abatement account from $1.50 to $7.50. Proposed law specifies that the increased driver's license fees and dedications will become effective on July 1, 2024. Proposed law reverses the increase in the fees for Class A, B, C, D, and E driver's licenses as well as the associated increased amounts dedicated to the litter abatement account back to the pre-increase amounts in existence prior to the passage of this Act on July 1, 2026.
