Abstract:  Requires St. Mary Parish courts to collect a fee of not less than $5 nor more than $10 in
criminal cases to be used solely to defray the operational costs of the office of the coroner
of the parish.
Present law establishes the Coroner's Operational Fund and a criminal court fee on certain defendants
dedicated to defraying the operational costs of the office of the coroner in the parish in which the
conviction occurred.  
Proposed law authorizes all courts in St. Mary Parish to collect a fee of not less than $5 nor more
than $10 for the support of the coroner.
Proposed law requires approval from the Judicial Council prior to proposed law becoming effective.
