Abstract: Changes the fee for burials in veterans cemeteries.
Present law provides that the Dept. of Veteran Affairs may charge $745 for burials or waive the fee
for financial hardship.
Present law also provides that the department may use the funds generated from the collection of
burial fees to pay for costs associated with the operation of the cemeteries.
Proposed law retains present law but changes the fee from $745 to the federal plot allowances based
upon the date of death of the decedent.
