Abstract: Makes charter boat fishermen eligible for compensation from the Fishermen's Gear
Compensation and Underwater Obstruction Removal Dedicated Fund Account.
Present law establishes the Fishermen's Gear Compensation and Underwater Obstruction Removal
Dedicated Fund Account. Specifies that the account is used to compensate commercial fishermen
for damages they suffer due to obstructions or hazards from natural occurrences, oil and gas
activities, or other activities where the obstruction is unknown.
Proposed law retains present law and adds charter boat fishermen as eligible claimants for
compensation from the fund.
