RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 706 (HB 552) 2024 Regular Session Braud Existing law authorizes district judges to fix terms of court and hold sessions of court in accordance with the number of parishes in the district. New law provides that in the interest of judicial efficiency and to promote access to affordable legal representation, the judge in the 25th JDC may hold civil and criminal sessions on non-jury matters and summary proceedings at a designated location in Plaquemines Parish west of the Mississippi River. New law provides that the provisions of new law shall not be construed as legislative approval of the removal or relocation in any manner of the Plaquemines Parish courthouse.
