HOUSE BILL NO. 560

DISTRICTS/ECONOMIC DEVEL:  Provides relative to the New Orleans Regional
Business Park
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 33:4702(B)(2)(introductory paragraph) and to repeal R.S.
3 33:4702(B)(2)(i), relative to the New Orleans Regional Business Park; to provide
4 relative to the board of commissioners; to provide for membership and the
5 qualifications and terms of members; and to provide for related matters.
6	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
7	as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
8	Louisiana.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1.  R.S. 33:4702(B)(2)(introductory paragraph) is hereby amended and
11reenacted to read as follows:
12 ยง4702.  Board of commissioners; appointment and term; organization

15	(2)  The board shall be composed of thirteen twelve members who shall be
16 appointed as follows:

18 Section 2.  R.S. 33:4702(B)(2)(i) is hereby repealed in its entirety.

Abstract:  Provides relative to the board of commissioners of the New Orleans Regional
Business Park.
Present law creates the New Orleans Regional Business Park for the object and purpose of
stimulating industrial and commercial development in Orleans Parish and adjacent parishes
by developing stable and more extensive employment opportunities, promoting economic
development, especially in disadvantaged communities, improving infrastructure, and
promoting the overall welfare of the citizens of Orleans Parish.
Present law provides for governance of the district by a 13 member board of commissioners.
Proposed law removes one commissioner, the one appointed by the state representative who
represents district 103.
Proposed law retains present law regarding the other board members which are as follows:
(1)The U.S. representative who represents Louisiana's second congressional district
appoints one member.
(2)The state senators who represents districts 1, 3, and 4 each appoint one member.
(3)The councilperson representing council district E appoints one member.
(4)The mayor of New Orleans appoints five members from nominations submitted by
specified entities.
(5)The state representatives who represent districts 99 and 100 each appoint a member.
