Existing law requires that a justice of peace be a resident of the ward and district from which
elected.
New law provides an exception for the ward three justice of the peace in Plaquemines Parish.
New law establishes several justice of the peace courts within the parish of Plaquemines.
New law provides that the justice of the peace courts that exist on the effective date of new
law shall continue in effect until changed in accordance with the law.
Effective August 1, 2024.
