HOUSE BILL NO. 59

LAW ENFORCE/OFFICERS:  Provides relative to the Council on Peace Officer Standards
and Training
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(f), relative to law enforcement officers; to
3 provide relative to the membership of the Council on Peace Officer Standards and
4 Training under the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration
5 of Criminal Justice; to change the name of a member of the council; and to provide
6 for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 40:2403(B)(1)(f) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as
9follows: 
10 ยง2403.  Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training
11	*          *          *
12	B.(1)  The council shall consist of the attorney general and eleven members
13 of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of  Criminal
14 Justice, as follows:

16	(f)  The president/director of the Louisiana Chapter of the National
17 Constables Association. The president of the Louisiana City Marshals and City
18 Constables Association or his designee.

Abstract:  Provides relative to the composition of the Council on Peace Officer Standards
and Training under the La. Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of
Criminal Justice.
Present law provides for the composition of the Council on Peace Officer Standards and
Training under the La. Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal
Justice, and provides for the attorney general and 11 other appointees as members of the
commission.
Proposed law changes the name of one of the members from the La. Chapter of the National
Constables Assoc. to the La. City Marshals and City Constables Assoc.
