LAW ENFORCE/OFFICERS: Provides for the certification by the Council on Peace
Officer Standards and Training of the New Orleans inspector general and his
investigators
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 40:2402(3)(g), relative to certification for peace officer standards and training;
3 to provide relative to the definition of "peace officer"; and to provide for related
4 matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 40:2402(3)(g) is hereby enacted to read as follows:

12 (g) "Peace officer" shall also include the inspector general of the city of New
13 Orleans and employee investigators of the local office of the inspector general in the
14 city of New Orleans.

Abstract: Provides an additional definition for "peace officer".
Present law provides definitions for the terms "governmental entity", "law enforcement
training course", and "peace officer".
Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law provides that "peace officer" shall also include the inspector general of the city
of New Orleans and employee investigators of the local office of the inspector general in the
city of New Orleans.
