Abstract: Provides relative to the office of the inspector general for the city of New Orleans.
Present law provides for investigative powers for any local ethics entity, ethics review board, or
office of inspector general.
Proposed law designates the office of the inspector general for the city of New Orleans as a law
enforcement agency, and confers on the office all investigative powers and privileges appurtenant
to a law enforcement agency under state law, but these powers and privileges do not include arrest
powers.
