[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 689 Original 2024 Regular Session Wiley Abstract: Prohibits the issuance of citations for speed cameras if there is no posted signage indicating a speed camera is present. Present law requires local municipal authorities or local parishes to post signs indicating a speed camera is present no less than 250 feet and no more than 500 feet of the location of each mobile speed camera. Specifies that speed camera must be clearly visible and comply with present law. Present law specifies that failure to comply with the regulations will prohibit the use of any photographic or video image collected by the speed camera to impose or collect any civil or criminal penalty. Proposed law requires signs be posted indicating that a mobile speed camera is present in order to issue a citation to any driver of a motor vehicle whose image is collected. (Adds R.S. 32:45(B)(3))
