1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 17:3047.2(A)(1), relative to the M.J. Foster Promise Program;
3 to provide relative to eligibility requirements; to lower the minimum age required for
4 initial qualification for a program award; to provide for the phasing in of the lowered
5 age requirement over time; to provide for effectiveness; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 17:3047.2(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 ยง3047.2.  Initial eligibility
10	A.  To be eligible for the award, an applicant shall meet the following
11 requirements:
12	(1)  Be at least twenty-one years old. Meet the following minimum age
13 requirements:
14	(a) Be at least twenty years old in the 2024-2025 award year.
15	(b) Be at least nineteen years old in the 2025-2026 award year.
16	(c) Be at least eighteen years old in the 2026-2027 award year.
17	(d) Be at least seventeen years old in the 2027-2028 award year and
18 thereafter.

1 Section 2.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If
4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
5 effective on the day following such approval.
