Existing law establishes the M.J. Foster Promise Award Program, which provides financial
awards towards the costs of tuition and required fees to certain students pursuing an associate
degree or shorter-term postsecondary credential required for certain high-demand, high-wage
occupations aligned to the state's workforce priorities.
Existing law requires an applicant to be a certain age.  New law lowers the age minimum
from 21 to 17 by one year each year as follows:
Award Year	Initial Eligibility Minimum Age
2024-2025	20
2025-2026	19
2026-2027	18
2027-2028 and thereafter17
Effective upon signature of governor (June 11, 2024).
