HOUSE BILL NO. 812

1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 3:556.3(B)(introductory paragraph), (5), and (6) and (C), (F),
3 and (H), relative to the Louisiana Crawfish Promotion and Research Board; to
4 provide for changes in the membership of the board; to provide relative to the terms
5 of board members; to provide for changes in meeting requirements; and to provide
6 for related matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 3:556.3(B)(introductory paragraph), (5), and (6) and (C), (F), and (H)
9 are hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
10 ยง556.3. Louisiana Crawfish Promotion and Research Board

12 B. The board shall consist of eleven thirteen members appointed by the
13 commissioner of agriculture and forestry in accordance with the following
14 provisions:

16 (5) One member Three members who is are engaged in crawfish farming or
17 crawfish harvesting appointed from a list of three six persons nominated by the
18 Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
19 (6) One member who is engaged in the crawfish industry appointed from a
20 list of three persons nominated by an owner or operator of a facility which produces
21 or sells artificial crawfish bait.

1 C. Members shall be appointed for terms concurrent with the term of the
2 commissioner of agriculture and forestry. Each appointment by the commissioner
3 shall be submitted to the Senate for confirmation.

5 F. A majority of the appointed members who serve of on the board shall
6 constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. All official actions of the board
7 shall require the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the board present
8 and voting.

10 H. The board shall meet quarterly at least twice per calendar year and may
11 meet at other times on the call of the chairman or by request of any four members.
12 The board shall not receive per diem or mileage for more than twelve meetings in
13 any calendar year.
