Abstract: Increases the penalties for malfeasance in office.
Present law provides for the crime of malfeasance in office.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that whoever commits the crime of malfeasance in office shall be imprisoned
for not more than five years with or without hard labor or shall be fined not more than $5,000, or
both.
Proposed law changes the penalty of imprisonment, to be served with or without hard labor, from
a maximum of five years to 10 years.
