RÉSUMÉ DIGEST Act 456 (HB 852) 2024 Regular Session Mandie Landry Existing law provides for the crime of malfeasance in office. Prior law provided for imprisonment for not more than five years with or without hard labor or a fine of not more than $5,000, or both for whoever committed the crime of malfeasance in office. New law changes the penalty of imprisonment, to be served with or without hard labor, from a maximum of five years to 10 years. Effective August 1, 2024. (Amends R.S. 14:134(C)(1))
