HEALTH CARE/PROVIDERS: Requires request for proposals for a managed care
organization to provide specialized behavioral health services
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 28:311, relative to specialized behavioral health services provided by a
3 Medicaid managed care organization; to require the issuance of a request for
4 proposals by the Louisiana Department of Health; to implement a statewide delivery
5 system of behavioral health services; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 28:311 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 The Louisiana Department of Health shall issue an initial request for
9 proposals in accordance with applicable law to procure and execute a contract with
10 one statewide Medicaid managed care organization or other entity to administer a
11 specialty plan to provide comprehensive integrated health services including but not
12 limited to specialized behavioral health services for individuals assessed to have
13 behavioral or substance use health needs beginning and effective statewide on or
14 before January 1, 2026.
15 Section 2. The request for proposals required by R.S. 28:311 as enacted by Section
161 of this Act shall be issued on or before January 1, 2025.
