Abstract:  Provides an exception to annual registration renewals for trucks weighing ten thousand
to sixteen thousand pounds, which must be renewed quadrennially.
Present law provides every registration of a truck in excess of 10,000 pounds or trailer licensed
pursuant to present law expires one year from the date of issuance and thereafter must be renewed
annually.
Proposed law provides an exception to the annual registration requirement in present law for trucks
weighing 10,000 to 16,000 pounds to renew every four years.
(Amends R.S. 47:462(B)(6) and 508(A)(3); Adds R.S. 47:508(A)(4))
Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation, Highways and
Public Works to the original bill:
1. Conform language in present law (R.S. 47:462(B)(6)) to match language in proposed law
which provides an exception to the annual registration requirement in present law for
trucks weighing 10,000 to 16,000 pounds to renew every four years.
