MTR VEHICLE/LICEN PLATES: Provides with respect to the renewal of truck
registrations
Synopsis of Senate Amendments
1.Changes the renewal period, for trucks weighing from ten thousand to sixteen
thousand pounds, from four years back to one year, but allows the registration
to be renewed annually from the date of issuance.
Digest of Bill as Finally Passed by Senate
Present law provides every registration of a truck in excess of 10,000 pounds or trailer
licensed pursuant to present law expires one year from the date of issuance and thereafter
must be renewed annually between May first and June thirtieth.
Proposed law provides an exception to the annual registration requirement in present law for
trucks weighing 10,000 to 16,000 pounds to be renewed annually from the date of issuance.
(Amends R.S. 47:462(B)(6) and 508(A)(3); Adds R.S. 47:508(A)(4))
