Abstract: Provides relative to cosmetology.
Present law provides for the powers and duties of the La. State Bd. of Cosmetology (board).
Proposed law retains present law and requires the board to create and maintain a website that allows
applicants to apply, pay fees, and see their current status for cosmetology licensure.
Present law requires a course of practical training and technical instruction extending over
a period of not less than nine consecutive months and including not less than 1,500 hours for a
cosmetology license.
Proposed law changes present law by reducing the hours required for a course to not less than seven
consecutive months and not less that 1,000 hours of practical training and technical instruction for
cosmetology licensure.
