MOTOR VEHICLES: Prohibits vehicle manufacturers and distributors from sharing driver
information without the driver's consent
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 32:1261.3, relative to unauthorized sharing of driver information; to prohibit
3 vehicle manufacturers and other parties from sharing driver information without
4 obtaining the express consent of the driver; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 32:1261.3 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1261.3. Unauthorized sharing of driver information
8 It shall be a violation of this Chapter for a manufacturer, wholesaler, dealer,
9 or any agent thereof, to share personal information or data concerning a driver with
10 any other party, including third-party vendors or insurers, without obtaining the
11 express consent of the driver.
