RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 244 (HB 964) 2024 Regular Session Deshotel Existing law provides that the justice of the peace courts in Caddo Parish shall have concurrent jurisdiction with district courts over property standards violations in the district. Provides further that a constable of a justice of a peace court in Caddo Parish may issue summons and serve subpoenas for violations that occur in the district. Existing law provides that a constable of a justice of a peace court in St. Tammany Parish may issue summons and serve subpoenas for violations that occur anywhere within St. Tammany Parish for a property standards or nuisance violation. Provides further that the justice of the peace courts in St. Tammany Parish shall have concurrent jurisdiction with district courts over property standards and nuisance violations, with the exclusion of certain wards. New law provides that a justice of the peace court in Avoyelles Parish shall have concurrent jurisdiction over property standards and nuisance violations anywhere in the parish in which the court is situated. Provides further that a constable of a justice of the peace court in Avoyelles Parish may issue summons and serve subpoenas for such violations occurring anywhere within the territorial jurisdiction of the justice of the peace court. New law provides that a justice of the peace court in Evangeline Parish shall have concurrent jurisdiction over property standards and nuisance violations anywhere in the parish in which the court is situated. Provides further that a constable of a justice of the peace court in Evangeline Parish may issue summons and serve subpoenas for such violations occurring anywhere within the territorial jurisdiction of the justice of the peace court.
