ENROLLED 2024 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 67 BY REPRESENTATIVES HEBERT, AMEDEE, BEAULLIEU, BILLINGS, BOURRIAQUE, BOYER, CARLSON, CHASSION, DESHOTEL, DEVILLIER, DOMANGUE, FARNUM, FONTENOT, GEYMANN, JACOB LANDRY, MILLER, MYERS, ORGERON, ROMERO, ST. BLANC, AND ZERINGUE AND SENATORS BOUDREAUX, CLOUD, COUSSAN, MIGUEZ, MILLER, REESE, AND STINE A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To designate Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, One Acadiana, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association are bringing Acadiana's economic development, chamber, civic, business, and higher education partners together for Acadiana Red and White Day to promote the shared interests of the Acadiana region; and WHEREAS, these leaders are focused every day on priorities to advance the Acadiana region and the state of Louisiana, and they have made tremendous strides to enhance economic competitiveness, talent development, and quality of place through collaboration and innovation with legislators and other public officials; and WHEREAS, Acadiana Red and White Day provides an opportunity to advocate for such priorities and celebrate shared achievements; and WHEREAS, a top priority of the region's leaders is communicating the crucial role of our higher education institutions in improving economic competitiveness, cultivating talent, and boosting quality of life in the region and the state; and WHEREAS, Acadiana is coming together to recognize the ongoing successes of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in its academic, athletic, and research endeavors; and WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has, for 125 years, supported and improved the educational, social, and economic well-being of the people of Acadiana and beyond; and Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 67 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has an annual statewide economic impact of $2.7 billion, supporting over 34,600 jobs and returning eight dollars to the Louisiana economy for every one dollar invested; and WHEREAS, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is preparing for the next 125 years of progress by advancing a vision for healthcare, K-12 education, sustainability, and other areas to improve the quality of life for Louisiana and its citizens; and WHEREAS, continued success in supporting the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and advancing the Acadiana region and the state of Louisiana will require ongoing leadership, shared vision, and strong collaboration with partners throughout the region and the entire state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Tuesday, April 16, 2024, as Acadiana Red and White Day at the state capitol and does hereby encourage all Louisianians to celebrate the Acadiana region's foundational contributions to Louisiana's culture.
