BY REPRESENTATIVES CARRIER, BOURRIAQUE, WILFORD CARTER, FARNUM,
GEYMANN, OWEN, ROMERO, SCHAMERHORN, AND TARVER AND
SENATORS ABRAHAM, REESE, AND STINE
COMMENDATIONS: Commends the McNeese State University men's basketball team and
Coach Will Wade on their historic 2023-2024 season
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the McNeese State University men's basketball team and Coach Will Wade on
3 their historic 2023-2024 season.
4 WHEREAS, the McNeese State University Cowboys men's basketball team achieved
5a number of historic feats during Coach Will Wade's first year at the program's helm, one
6being the team reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history; and
7 WHEREAS, McNeese State finished the 2023-2024 season with an incredible overall
8record of thirty wins and only four losses; the Cowboys finished with a Southland
9Conference record of seventeen wins and only one loss, and the team won the Southland
10Tournament; and
11 WHEREAS, McNeese had a number of incredible players on its roster: Shahada
12Wells led the team in scoring with 17.8 points per game and tallied an impressive
134.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and three steals per game; additionally, Christian Shumate
14averaged 12.1 points and led the team with 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game; and
15 WHEREAS, after an incredible regular season, the Cowboys earned a spot as the
16No. 12 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament; and
17 WHEREAS, the members of the McNeese State men's basketball team and their
18coach, Will Wade, are most deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible
19achievements this season.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
2commend the McNeese State University men's basketball team and Coach Will Wade on
3their historic 2023-2024 season and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team
4continue its incredible work and always strive for greatness.
