HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 76

HIGHWAYS/INTERSTATE: Urges and requests the Department of Transportation and
Development to make the space between the median uniform for all lanes on Perkins
Road intersection
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to make the space
3 between the median uniform for all the lanes on the Perkins Road intersection of LA-
4 427.
5 WHEREAS, the intersection of LA-427 and LA 3064, near Mr. Gatti's Pizza, has
6only one proper intersection which is LA-427 East; and
7 WHEREAS, LA-427 East has two straight lanes and two turning lanes making traffic
8less congested and allowing for safer travel on the road; and
9 WHEREAS, LA-427 West has one turning lane and two straight lanes; and
10 WHEREAS, LA-3064 North and South have one turning lane and two straight lanes;
11and
12 WHEREAS, the intersections located at South Essen and Perkins Road are some of
13the busiest intersections in Baton Rouge during certain times of the day; and
14 WHEREAS, the flow of traffic would be more efficient in these areas if the spaces
15between the median had the same amount of lanes; and
16 WHEREAS, the creation of proper lanes would minimize substantial delays and
17eliminate potential conflicts; and
18 WHEREAS, the additional space is needed to create uniform lanes to alleviate traffic
19congestion.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
2urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to make the space
3between the median uniform for all the lanes on the Perkins Road intersection of LA-427.
4 BE IT FURTHERED RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
5the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.
