HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 181

A RESOLUTION
To commend Southeastern Louisiana University's cheer and dance teams on their 2024 UCA
and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team national championships.
WHEREAS, the Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) cheer and dance teams
each won national titles at the 2024 UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team
National Championships held at Walt Disney World Resort; and
WHEREAS, SLU Cheer has won the UCA Open Coed Game Day national title three
times in the past four years; the cheer team previously claimed national titles at the 2021
virtual competition and the Nationals event in January 2023; and
WHEREAS, Southeastern's dance squad, the Lionettes, won gold in the UDA
Division I Game Day competition; the Lionettes also won titles in the Division I Hip Hop
category in 2018 and 2021; and
WHEREAS, Southeastern Louisiana University's cheer and dance teams have
combined to win a total of six national championship golds in the past seven years, and they
are most deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible achievements.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Southeastern Louisiana University's cheer
and dance teams on their 2024 UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team
national championships and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that they continue their
incredible work and always strive for greatness.
