HLS 24RS-1187 ORIGINAL 2024 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 25 BY REPRESENTATIVE ROMERO COMMENDATIONS: Commends Cameron Fontenot of Welsh Boy Scout Troop 29 on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Cameron Fontenot on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. 3 WHEREAS, it is most fitting to commend and celebrate Cameron Fontenot of Boy 4Scouts of America Troop 29 on the memorable and historic occasion of his attainment of the 5prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and 6 WHEREAS, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, founded on February 8, 71910, and chartered by the United States Congress in 1916, is to prepare young people to 8make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the 9Scout Oath and Law; and 10 WHEREAS, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, a Boy 11Scout must fulfill all requirements of leadership, service, and outdoor skills and must earn 12twenty-one badges which signify the mastery of Scouting skills including Citizenship in the 13Community, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the 14World; and 15 WHEREAS, Cameron faithfully embodies the twelve points of the Scout Law: he 16is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, 17clean, and reverent; and 18 WHEREAS, presented with his Eagle Scout badge, Cameron Fontenot joins the ranks 19of such esteemed and respected Eagle Scouts as the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, thirty-eighth 20president of the United States; Captain James Lovell, commander of the Apollo 13 space Page 1 of 2 HLS 24RS-1187 ORIGINAL HR NO. 25 1flight; Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon; Stephen Spielberg, three-time 2Academy Award winning director; and Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft; and 3 WHEREAS, the legacy of the Boy Scouts is indeed a rich one, for it not only 4includes a history of service and proud citizenship which spans more than a century, but also 5includes the history of service and singular accomplishments of Cameron Fontenot, a young 6man to be recognized and commended by future Eagle Scouts and his community for the 7deep human values and genuine spirit of good fellowship that he inspires. 8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Cameron Fontenot on achieving the rank of 10Eagle Scout; does hereby express utmost gratitude and respect for the exemplary strides he 11has taken as a Scout and citizen; does hereby congratulate Cameron and the members and 12leaders of Boy Scouts of America Troop 29 as they commemorate the significant event of 13Mr. Fontenot's pledge of eternal loyalty to the code of the Eagle Scout; and does hereby 14extend sincerest wishes to Cameron Fontenot for full measures of happiness and success in 15all of his endeavors.
