HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 266
BY REPRESENTATIVE BRYANT
GAMING:  Requests the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice, or a
subcommittee thereof, to conduct an oversight meeting relative to charitable gaming

2To authorize and request the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice, or a
3 subcommittee thereof, to conduct an oversight meeting to evaluate the policies,
4 procedures, and practices pertaining to charitable gaming in this state.
5 WHEREAS, charitable gaming was permitted in Louisiana after Act No. 568 of the
61999 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature was signed into law on June 30, 1999;
7and
8 WHEREAS, the provisions of law pertaining to charitable gaming are located in
9Chapter 11 of Title 4 of the Revised Statutes of Louisiana of 1950; and
10 WHEREAS, charitable gaming encompasses various games of chance including
11raffles, bingo, and keno; and
12 WHEREAS, a study of the policies, procedures, and practices pertaining to charitable
13gaming in this state will assist both the public and stakeholders within the charitable gaming
14industry as it relates to enforcement, regulation, and benefits.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby authorize and request the House Committee on
17Administration of Criminal Justice, or a subcommittee thereof, to study the policies,
18procedures, and practices relating to charitable gaming in this state.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the study of these policies, procedures, and
20practices shall include an assessment of the benefits and inner workings of the charitable
21gaming industry.
