HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 300

COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Antionette Van on being named Miss Caddo Parish
2024
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend Antionette Van on being named Miss Caddo Parish 2024.
3 WHEREAS, Antionette Van was born on June 9, 1998, in Oakland, California, and
4she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2007; she is the daughter of a retired Shreveport
5Parks and Recreation employee; and
6 WHEREAS, Antionette has established herself as a young leader and volunteer in
7the Caddo Parish community through her involvement with Shreveport Public Assembly and
8Recreation (SPAR); in 2009, she began competing in pageantry through SPAR's annual
9Merry Berry Christmas Pageant, where she was crowned Miss SPAR three consecutive
10years; and
11 WHEREAS, after successfully reigning as Miss Shreveport Parks and Recreation for
12three years, Antionette ventured into mainstream pageantry and earned the titles of National
13American Miss Louisiana Junior Teen 2012, Miss Louisiana American Coed Junior Teen
142013 and Miss Caddo Parish's Outstanding Teen 2014, representing Louisiana at two
15national competitions and Caddo Parish at Miss Louisiana's Teen; while holding these
16prestigious titles, Antionette maintained honor roll status and balanced many leadership roles
17at C.E. Byrd High School; and
18 WHEREAS, Antionette was an excellent student and athlete, competing on the
19school's basketball, volleyball, and track teams; she was an active member of the school's
20International Thespian Society and Mu Alpha Theta math club, and she served as the drum
21major of the marching band for two years before graduating with honors in 2016; and

1 WHEREAS, after graduating, Antionette enlisted to serve in the United States
2Marine Corps; from 2016 to 2021, she served at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as a signals
3intelligence radio reconnaissance radio operator, and at the National Security Agency
4Headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, as a signals intelligence data analyst; and
5 WHEREAS, Ms. Van is a staunch advocate of mental health awareness and
6prevention, and she is a supporter of domestic abuse victims; she has been involved with
7organizations and initiatives including Dress For Success, 22 Until None, and Irreverent
8Warriors; and
9 WHEREAS, since returning to the civilian sector, Ms. Van has reigned as Miss
10Potomac under the Miss America Organization representing Potomac, Maryland, at the Miss
11Maryland 2021 Pageant; she also represented Potomac at the 2022 National All-American
12Miss pageant, where she placed 1st Runner Up; and
13 WHEREAS, outside of pageantry, Antionette is heavily involved in the arts as an
14actress, singer, dancer, and musician; as a professional dancer and cheerleader, she travels
15the country performing as a flow artist specializing in fire dance; and
16 WHEREAS, Antionette currently works as the assistant general manager of and
17group fitness instructor at Club4Fitness, as a full stack software developer, and as a traveling
18entrepreneur of her own hair and makeup business; she reigns as Miss Caddo Parish 2024
19and will be competing for the title of Miss Louisiana 2024 with the hopes of representing
20Louisiana at Miss America 2025; and
21 WHEREAS, Antionette Van is a truly inspiring woman who is most deserving of the
22highest recognition for her military service and for her many incredible achievements.
23 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
24Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Antionette Van on being named Miss Caddo
25Parish 2024; does hereby further recognize Ms. Van for her service to our country as a
26member of the United States Marine Corps; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she
27continue to prosper in all of her endeavors.
