HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 300

A RESOLUTION
To commend Antionette Van on being named Miss Caddo Parish 2024.
WHEREAS, Antionette Van was born on June 9, 1998, in Oakland, California, and
she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2007; she is the daughter of a retired Shreveport
Parks and Recreation employee; and
WHEREAS, Antionette has established herself as a young leader and volunteer in
the Caddo Parish community through her involvement with Shreveport Public Assembly and
Recreation (SPAR); in 2009, she began competing in pageantry through SPAR's annual
Merry Berry Christmas Pageant, where she was crowned Miss SPAR three consecutive
years; and
WHEREAS, after successfully reigning as Miss Shreveport Parks and Recreation for
three years, Antionette ventured into mainstream pageantry and earned the titles of National
American Miss Louisiana Junior Teen 2012, Miss Louisiana American Coed Junior Teen
2013 and Miss Caddo Parish's Outstanding Teen 2014, representing Louisiana at two
national competitions and Caddo Parish at Miss Louisiana's Teen; while holding these
prestigious titles, Antionette maintained honor roll status and balanced many leadership roles
at C.E. Byrd High School; and
WHEREAS, Antionette was an excellent student and athlete, competing on the
school's basketball, volleyball, and track teams; she was an active member of the school's
International Thespian Society and Mu Alpha Theta math club, and she served as the drum
major of the marching band for two years before graduating with honors in 2016; and
WHEREAS, after graduating, Antionette enlisted to serve in the United States
Marine Corps; from 2016 to 2021, she served at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as a signals
intelligence radio reconnaissance radio operator, and at the National Security Agency
Headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, as a signals intelligence data analyst; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Van is a staunch advocate of mental health awareness and
prevention, and she is a supporter of domestic abuse victims; she has been involved with
organizations and initiatives including Dress For Success, 22 Until None, and Irreverent
Warriors; and
WHEREAS, since returning to the civilian sector, Ms. Van has reigned as Miss
Potomac under the Miss America Organization representing Potomac, Maryland, at the Miss
Maryland 2021 Pageant; she also represented Potomac at the 2022 National All-American
Miss pageant, where she placed 1st Runner Up; and
WHEREAS, outside of pageantry, Antionette is heavily involved in the arts as an
actress, singer, dancer, and musician; as a professional dancer and cheerleader, she travels
the country performing as a flow artist specializing in fire dance; and
WHEREAS, Antionette currently works as the assistant general manager of and
group fitness instructor at Club4Fitness, as a full stack software developer, and as a traveling
entrepreneur of her own hair and makeup business; she reigns as Miss Caddo Parish 2024
and will be competing for the title of Miss Louisiana 2024 with the hopes of representing
Louisiana at Miss America 2025; and
WHEREAS, Antionette Van is a truly inspiring woman who is most deserving of the
highest recognition for her military service and for her many incredible achievements.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Antionette Van on being named Miss Caddo
Parish 2024; does hereby further recognize Ms. Van for her service to our country as a
member of the United States Marine Corps; and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that she
continue to prosper in all of her endeavors.
