HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 41
BY REPRESENTATIVES BEAULLIEU, BOYER, BRYANT, AND JACOB LANDRY
A RESOLUTION
To commend Natalie Kingston, the 2024 Emmy Award winner for cinematography for the
"Black Bird" miniseries.
WHEREAS, Natalie was born at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia, Louisiana, on
September 22, 1981, to Danelle Crowson and Gregg Kingston; she was an honor graduate
from New Iberia Senior High School in 1999; while in high school, Natalie was on the
Jackette dance team, ran track, and graduated from dance school; after high school, Natalie
became a proud Ragin' Cajun; she graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a minor in theatre; and
WHEREAS, growing up, Natalie was always fascinated with creating huge
productions; she was the child mastermind behind neighborhood plays, pageants, talent
shows, and the like; at the age of ten, her passion found a home when she picked up her
parents' camcorder; when she was twelve years old, Natalie enlisted her younger sister and
her cousins to act in the first film she shot, "Night at Spooky Mansion"; since then, Natalie
has been committed to telling stories from behind the camera; and
WHEREAS, although Natalie and her husband, Brian, live in Los Angeles, Natalie
will always call New Iberia her home; she will never lose her love for crawfish, gumbo, and
boudin; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kingston was the sole cinematographer for "Black Bird", which
was filmed in New Orleans; this allowed her to skillfully create a consistent and unique
visual style for the production; Natalie says she is most proud of the time and effort she put
into helping create "Black Bird", which is among her favorite projects; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Kingston's work on "Black Bird" made history when she became
the first woman to be awarded an Emmy in cinematography for a fictional television series;
Natalie is a truly inspiring woman who is most deserving of the highest recognition for this
incredible accomplishment, which is a milestone that will impact women in the film industry
and beyond.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Natalie Kingston, the 2024 Emmy Award
winner for cinematography for the "Black Bird" miniseries, and does hereby recognize the
profound impact this incredible accomplishment will have for many years to come.
