RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 668 (SB 111) 2024 Regular Session Abraham Prior law required that every sworn, commissioned law enforcement officer employed on a full-time basis by a bona fide police agency of the state or its political subdivisions, other than the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections and the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, and headquartered in the city of New Orleans, who serves the welfare of the public in the capacity of a police officer by providing police services while patrolling levees, waterways, and riverfront areas, or while patrolling bridges that are within the boundaries of the city of New Orleans, be paid by the state extra compensation in the amount of $600 per month in addition to the compensation now paid to him by his employer. New law retains prior law and adds law enforcement agencies headquartered in the city of Lake Charles that patrol levees, waterways, and riverfront areas, or patrol bridges to the list of eligible agencies to receive monthly supplemental pay of $600.
