Proposed law provides for the responsibility to return of a percentage of live alligators to the wild
in accordance with rules and regulations of the commission. Proposed law places this responsibility
on the holder of a special permit that allows the collection of wild alligator eggs and the landowner
who owns or leases an alligator nesting habitat.
Proposed law requires the rules and regulations to provide for a maximum return rate of 5% of live
alligators at 48 inches total length.
Effective August 1, 2024.
