Prior law declares the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge as a highway safety corridor and provides
that a person operating a motor vehicle that violates the provisions of prior law while on the
Atchafalaya Basin Bridge shall be fined two times the standard fine imposed.

Prior law requires the Dept. of Transportation and Development to install camera safety
devices, establish a process for identification of motor vehicles traveling in excess of the
posted speed limit and issuance of warnings and citations, and to adopt policies and
procedures for the issuance of citations and the collection of fines.

Prior law creates in the state treasury a special fund and provides that any monies collected
as fines be deposited into the fund.
