2024 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 43 BY SENATOR MCMATH AND REPRESENTATI VE CARVER 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1379.1.4(B)(2) and to enact R.S. 40:1379.1.4(F), relative to 3 carrying of concealed firearms by qualified retired law enforcement officers; to 4 provide for the definition of qualified retired law enforcement officer to include 5 retired reserve officers; to provide for a definition of reserve officer; and to provide 6 for related matters. 7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 8 Section 1. R.S. 40:1379.1.4(B)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 9 40:1379.1.4(F) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 10 ยง1379.1.4. Carrying of concealed firearms by qualified retired law enforcement 11 officers 12 * * * 13 B. As used in this Section, the term "qualified retired law enforcement 14 officer" means an individual who meets all of the following: 15 * * * 16 (2) Before such separation, was an active, full-time employee or reserve 17 officer of a state or municipal law enforcement agency or sheriff's office and is 18 certified in the use of firearms by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council. 19 * * * 20 F. For the purposes of this Section, "reserve officer" means a reserve or 21 auxiliary municipal police officer who meets all the qualifications provided in 22 R.S. 14:95(G)(3).
