ROADS/HIGHWAYS. Designates a portion of Louisiana Highway 11 in St. Tammany
Parish as the "Jimmy Buffett 'Changes in Latitude' Memorial Crossing". (8/1/24)
1 AN ACT
2 To provide relative to state highways; to designate a portion of U.S. Route 11 Maestri
3 Bridge in St. Tammany Parish as the "Jimmy Buffett 'Changes in Latitude' Memorial
4 Crossing"; to provide for location and placement of signage; to provide for
5 restrictions on costs of materials to the department; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
9 northern bascule of U.S. Route 11 Maestri Bridge in St. Tammany Parish, which
10 connects Slidell and New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain, is hereby designated as
11 the "Jimmy Buffett 'Changes in Latitude' Memorial Crossing".
12 Section 2. (A) The Department of Transportation and Development is hereby
13 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs of this designation provided local or
14 private monies are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs
15 for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed
16 the sum of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.
17 (B) The signage provided for by this Act shall be placed on the bridge

1 near the approach to the northern bascule span service building and, to the
2 extent that sufficient additional local or private monies are received, shall be
3 placed on the sides of the northern bascule pier opposite the service building for
4 visibility to crossing watercraft.
