New law prohibits a forensic psychiatric hospital issued an initial license after Aug. 1, 2024
from being located within 1,000 feet from a public or private elementary or secondary school
or on any site on which a public or private elementary or secondary school was formerly
located.
New law authorizes a local governing authority to establish additional requirements for
forensic psychiatric hospitals.
Effective June 11, 2024.
