New law establishes the Louisiana Alzheimer's and Related Dementias Advisory Council
within the La Dept. of Health.
New law provides for a 22 member advisory council, terms of membership, reappointment,
and criteria for reimbursement.
New law requires the council to conduct reviews and assessments of Alzheimer's and other
forms of dementia in Louisiana.
New law requires the council to hold its first meeting no later than Nov. 1, 2024, and
quarterly thereafter.
New law requires the council to submit recommendations on the five-year statewide plan and
recommendations for implementation of initiatives to address Alzheimer's and related
dementias to the La. Dept. of Health no later than Nov. 1, 2025.
New law requires the council to submit an annual written report of the progress of the
statewide plan to the governor's office and legislature no later than Nov. 1st of each year.
Effective May 22, 2024.
