DIGEST OF THE SENATE BILL AS RETURNED TO THE SENATE DIGEST SB 487 Engrossed 2024 Regular Session Cathey Proposed law requires a hospital that treats a minor that is suspected of an opioid overdose to conduct a urine drug screen on the minor that shall include testing for the presence of fentanyl. Proposed law requires the hospital to report any screening conducted in accordance with proposed law that detects fentanyl to the La. Dept. of Health. Proposed law further provides that the hospital shall de-identify the report prior to submission. Proposed law requires a hospital to complete the reporting requirements established in proposed law and to comply with existing mandatory reporting requirements established in the Children's Code.
