2024 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 125 BY SENATOR CONNICK A RESOLUTION To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to provide an alternative, other than prohibiting large commercial vehicles on the portion of Interstate 20 in Bossier City between Hamilton Road and Industrial Drive. WHEREAS, Interstate 20 in Bossier City is a crucial artery for local, state, and national traffic; and WHEREAS, the current construction project on Interstate 20 has eliminated large commercial traffic to crucial businesses between the Hamilton Road and Industrial Drive exits; and WHEREAS, many studies and discussions have gone into the matter, pleas for assistance have gone unanswered, with the result being a prohibition on commercial vehicles; and WHEREAS, since the prohibition went into effect many traffic tickets to commercial drivers have been issued; and WHEREAS, Governor Jeff Landry was elected on a platform of, "No business as usual" and a "can do" mindset; and WHEREAS, this is a prime opportunity to offer a viable alternative for constituents that provide local, state, and national services based on this small stretch of interstate. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Louisiana Senate does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to address the problems and provide an alternative, other than prohibiting large commercial vehicles on the portion of Interstate 20 in Bossier City between Hamilton Road and Industrial Drive, during the construction currently taking place on Interstate 20.
