SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Commends the Geaux Far Louisiana Coalition and to
designate Tuesday, April 2, 2024 as Geaux Far Day at the state capitol.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Geaux Far Louisiana Coalition and to designate Tuesday, April 2, 2024,
3 as Geaux Far Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
4 WHEREAS, Geaux Far Louisiana was established in 2021, with 36 individuals from
5 various sectors advocating for the needs of Louisiana's children from prenatal to five years
6 of age with intentional centering of parent and early childhood provider; and
7 WHEREAS, Geaux Far believes in an unified early childhood system and has
8 identified five goals to ensure families have access to seamless, high-quality early child
9 development programs and health and educational services; and
10 WHEREAS, Geaux Far Louisiana collaborates with Louisiana-based partner
11 organizations dedicated to carrying out specific objectives within each goal area that aligns
12 with the work they are already doing; and
13 WHEREAS, all families in Louisiana want their children to be healthy, happy, and
14 to thrive; healthy families and young children, prenatal to age five, are the backbone to
15 thriving communities and economic vitality for our state; and
16 WHEREAS, by engaging parents, educators, policymakers, and community leaders,
17 Geaux Far Louisiana seeks to shape policies, advocate for change, and improve outcomes
18 for young learners statewide; and

1 WHEREAS, Geaux Far Louisiana encourages individuals to become "Champions
2 for Children" by lending their voices, time, and talents to advocate for legislative policies
3 that ensure family access to seamless, high-quality early child development programs as well
4 as health and educational services.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend the Geaux Far Louisiana Coalition and does hereby designate
7 Tuesday, April 2, 2024, as Geaux Far Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
9 Geaux Far Louisiana Coalition.
